OUR PAST,PRESENT AND FUTURE CHALLENGES

Challenges, like death, in the world we are living, are a certainty .We believe that every challenge we face in our school can be used to our advantage and can afford our school ,our learners, educators ,parents and school community an opportunity for personal growth and self improvement.

PAST CHALLENGES FACED BY OUR PRIMARY SCHOOL

LEARNERS
  • An increasing number of learners lacking appropriate care e.g. orphans due to HIV & AIDS pandemic.(Achieved: Government awareness and roll out of ARVs)
  • Increasing number of undisciplined children.(Achieved: Government introduced Life Skills and Orientation subjects and Religious organisations are preaching )
  • Sizeable number of learners with learning difficulties .(Achieved: Government built school for children with learning disabilities in our community)
  • EDUCATORS
  • Loosing teachers of scares subject like Maths due to promotional posts.(Achieved: Some versatile teachers have moved back to teach in primary school)
  • Retiring teachers with experience.(Achieved: Some retired teachers are SGB and motivate others to join teaching)
  • Absenteeism- illnesses that sicken our teachers e.g. stress.
  • PARENTS AND SCHOOL COMMUNITY
  • Adult illiteracy (Achieved : Government have introduced adult education)
  • Parents with lack of confidence and low self-esteem.
  • Crime in our area.
  • High rate of unemployment.
  • SCHOOL PROPERTY
  • Vandalism of property due to lack of fence (Achieved: Goverment provided state-of-the-art fence))
  • Lack of Offices for Staff Management Team and Teachers Staffroom.(Partially Achieved : Small Admin block built but without staff room )
  • Overcrowding in classrooms: (Achieved: Donation from Sun international,Carousel SED
  • PRESENT CHALLENGES FACED BY OUR PRIMARY SCHOOL

    LEARNERS
  • An increasing number of learners lacking out-of-school learning e.g. due to Corona Virus Pandemic.( According to sabc news report,About 80% of learning was lost in 2020 ,50% of schooling in 2021 already lost in South Africa). (Achieved: Government awareness and roll out of Covid-19 Vaccines.Department Of Education introduced amicable solutions to help learners to catch-up with school work.)
  • Rapidly unforgiving technological advancement in their learning environment and lack of resources like data for home e-schooling.
  • Lack of parental involvement in their academic matters.
  • EDUCATORS
  • Excessive amount of paperwork taking a lot of time for their day to day regular schedules.
  • Assume many roles including psycho-educators , social worker, counsellor which take quality time for teaching.
  • Lack of resourses in some other times which impact teaching quality.
  • Lack of support and involvement from some parents.
  • Lack of self-time caused by multi-tasking for effective learning process.
  • Getting learners to do their work outside the classroom in this pandemic period.
  • PARENTS AND SCHOOL COMMUNITY
  • some single parent families and orphans have difficulties in child academic support.
  • some loss of jobs by parents due to economic crisis caused by pandemic.
  • Lack of knowledge for some parents about the importance of their involvement in child education.
  • SCHOOL PROPERTY
  • Vandalism of property especially during lockdowns causing most needed funds to be diverted to security companies.
  • difficulty in maintaining old infrastructure .
  • Lack of Dedicated staffroom for multi-disciplinary collaboration.
  • FUTURE CHALLENGES THAT WILL BE FACED BY OUR PRIMARY SCHOOL

    LEARNERS
  • Our Learners will have to be prepared now for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
  • Rapidly unforgiving technological advancement in their learning environment and lack of resources will have to be addressed by use of gadgets for connectivity.
  • EDUCATORS
  • Struggling to teach coding and robotic subject which are piloted in our school
  • Keeping up with rapidly changing ICT advancement.
  • International Labour Organisation discussed these threats : Submission to ILO
